Utorak, 7. april 2009. u 19 časova,
Dom omladine Beograd,
Otvaranje izložbe
med!aphosis
Autorke izložbe: Selena Savić i Marija Đorgović
izložba traje do 19.04.2009.

( __english version below__ )

mediju. Ovakva aktivnost - razotkrivanje i "krekovanje" postaje manir.

Volfgang
Bitner (Wolfgang Bittner), Lindsi Hausden (Lyndsey Housden), Joko
Sejama (Yoko Seyama), Lars Kinde (Lars Kynde), Jerun Aitendale (Jeroen
Uyttendaele), Rašida Ziani (Rachida Ziani) i Selena Savić predstaviće
se beogradskoj publici video i audio instalacijama, arhitektonskim
intervencijama kao i neobičnim "muzičkim instrumentima". Format i

njegova nestabilnost u tom procesu postaje vidljiva. U kontekstu
omogući kreaciju i u kom trenutku on počinje zauzvrat tu kreaciju da
oblikuje. Gde je granica medija i procesa kada medij postaje sam sebi
svrha? Koliko sam medij oblikuje i formira različite pristupe i odnose

Biografije umetnika

rad kreće u polju videa, fotografije i instalacije.
Pored više kratkih filmova, velikih fotografskih grafika i

Linsi Hausden
Vizuelna umetnica, živi i radi u Holandiji, rođena u Velikoj Britaniji
1980. Lindsi Hausden trenutno završava MA studije "ArtScience-a" u
lastiša, bakterija i drugih materijala koje koristi u izradi okruženja
za performans ili interakciju. Tokom studija likovnih umetnosti "Art

u Hagu.
Moje

apsurdnih iskustava. Fascinaciju sistemima i društvenim fenomenima
svakodnevnom i nesvakodnevnom životu. Diplomirala na Arhitektonskom
fakultetu u Beogradu. Živi i radi u Holandiji gde studira Medija
Dizajn na Pit Cvart institutu.

Joko Sejama se bavi novim medijima i scenografijom, rođena u Tokiju
1980. Živi i radi u Holandiji.
uključuje rad sa video i foto materijalom uz kombinovanje kompjuterske
tehnologije i manuelne obrade.

skulptura, kinetičkih objekata, instrumenata ili kompozicija, on
kroz inherentne odlike datog medija. Radove "Prazna traka" (2003),
"Monolitna promenada" (2006), "Grafitni interfejs" (2007) i
"Svetlucajuća polja" (2008) izlagao je u Belgiji i Holandiji.

Rašida Ziani je francuska umetnica, rođena 1982, u Vilepintu,
Francuska. Živi i radi u Hagu, Holandija.
školi savremene umetnosti, Vila Arson u Nici, gde je istraživala i
usavršavala ilustraciju i grafiku.
i iluzionističkim performansima. Trenutno završava studije
audio-vizuelnih umetnosti na 'ArtScience' odseku Kraljevske likovne
akademije u Hagu.

Tuesday, 7th of April 2009. 19 o'clock,
Dom omladine Belgrade,

Opening of the exhibition
med!aphosis

Authors of the exhibition: Selena Savić and Marija Đorgović

The exhibition is open untill 19th of April.

Artists today often transit from medium to medium, using all means of
expression, not as an insistent attempt to "leave the frame" but as an
act of adaptation, some kind of "juggling" in an unforeseeable cloud
of possibilities which we are confronted with daily. Large number of
alternatives and necessity for making choices opens up a space for the
intervention on the medium. This kind of activity - revealing and
"cracking" becomes a manner.

The exhibition med!aphosis will be hositng works from young artists
living and working in The Hage, The Netherlands. Wolfgang Bittner,
Lyndsey Housden, Yoko Seyama, Lars Kynde, Jeroen Uyttendaele, Rachda
Ziani and Selena Savić will present their audio installations,
architectural interventions and extraordinary "musical instruments" to
the Belgrade audience. The format and content of the works expose a
contemporary approach which is not a matter of choice but a method of
interpretation of reality.

The exhibition med!aphosis is a part of the project thought of as a
series of presentations of different programmes, with the intention
to launch a discussion on possible aspects of medium transformation
and reveal the position of the medium in this process with its visible
instability. In the context of the exhibition as a specific
communication medium carrying a property of time and having an "expiry
date", the show itself will be undergoing a process of transformation
of the medium.
The exhibition covers different aspects of contemporary artistic
practices and raises questions about the extent to which are we
designing a medium for creating something and at which moment it
begins shaping this creation. Where is the border line between medium
used as a tool and when it becomes the subject of the work itself? To
which extent does the medium shape different approaches and relations
to the work?
Project med!aphosis offers a critical view on the notion of choice
when speaking of the technique and technology of an artistic
expression.

Artists biographies

Wolfgang Bittner (1981, Salzburg, Austria) is a visual artist working
in the field video, photography and installation. He started his
artistic career as a painter, before becoming more and more interested
in the possibilities of time based and interactive media. Beside the
production of short films, large photographic prints and interactive
installations, he has been realizing video projections for theater and
audiovisual live performances.

Lyndsey Housden
Visual artist, based in the Netherlands, born in the UK 1980.
Lyndsey Housden is currently completing her MA in Art Science at the
Interfaculty, Den Haag, NL, where she is researching fabrics, weaves,
elastics, bacteria and other materials to build and generate
environments for performance or interaction. During her degree in Fine
Art Intermedia (2002) she collaborated with dancers to create
performances for site-specific environments and developed interactive
video installations.
lyndsey.housden@interfaculty.nl

Lars Kynde
I was born in Denmark 1981.
I graduated as composer from the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen
2007, and have since then done research in visual tone representations
and alternative instruments at the interfaculty Artscience in the
Hague. I work both as composer and as perf orming artist playing
percussion, cello and my own homebuilt instruments. The will to do new
forms of notation and new instruments came out of the dissatisfaction
with the limitations of existing instruments and the existing scoring
system. My view is that music, notation and instrument are closely
connected, so that new music needs new instruments and new notation,
and opposite new instruments and score systems create new music in a
natural and idiomatic way.

Selena Savić (1980)
Works mostly with sound and installations. Abstracting parts of
reality, she connects them into systems of related elements, often
resulting in absurd experiences. Her fascination with structure of the
society and socal phenomena she expresses through idealistic projects
for (re)construction of social and personal relations, reflecting on
the role of information and media in the everyday and non-everyday
life. Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade. Lives
and works in the Netherlands, where she is completing her master
studies in Media Design, at the Piet Zwart Institute.

Yoko Seyama is a scenographer and media artist, based in The
Netherlands, Born in Tokyo.
From early on in her architectural training and classic ballet, she
began specializing in the creation of spatial installations for the
performance art contexts and for the contemporary dance. Since moving
to Europe in 2004, she has been concentrating on Scenography for Time
based art. Her present research in her MA in Artscience at
Interfaculty Den Haag is "processing light / work of touch" for 3D
space by film, photo and by mixture of computer technology and
hands-on work.

Jeroen Uyttendaele (1981) studied audiovisual arts, option radio at
RITS, Brussels. The central subject of Jeroen's work is sound seen as
a physical sculptural entity. Through the development of sound
sculptures, kinetic objects, instruments or composition, he is trying
to express the intuitive poetic language that communicates the
inherent characteristics of the media. Among his works are the
installations 'Plane tape' (2005), 'La promenade Monolith' (2006),
Graphite Interface (2007) and Sparkfield (2008). He exhibited in
Belgium and The Netherlands.

Rachida Ziani is a french artist, born in 1982, in Villepinte, France.
Lives and works in The Hague, The Netherlands.
Rachida started her artistic formation in EPIAR, the International
School of Contemporary Art, La Villa Arson, in Nice, where she
researched and refined her skills in illustration and etching. Later
on she developed a strong interest in music and sound, and a deep
fascination for mechanical machines and devices, automatas and tricks
used in abstract cinema and magical performances. She is currently
completing her studies in sound and visual art, at the Interfaculty
Artscience, in the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.
